High-precision printing system

The Tenderer is requested to submit a tender for a fully operational high-resolution printing system based on, but not restricted to, high-precision capillary printing, direct writing, high-resolution dispensing or other techniques capable of providing sub-micron resolution. The main usage of the system is to manufacture -high-resolution electrodes for miniaturizing organic-electronic devices such as organic electro-chemical transistors, electrolyte gated organic field-effect transistors, and other devices, -insulating layers with high precision and resolution for isolation of both electrodes and semiconductors in the electronic devices, -multi-layer structures, including organic semiconductors and dielectrics to complete the functional device structures, -photonic nanostructures using metallic, semiconductor, or dielectric inks to form periodically patterned surfaces that can guide or controllably scatter light of as short wavelength as possible (preferably in the visible range), as well as multi-material individual and clusters of pillars and lines with high aspect-ratio (height vs width) through multi-layer printing with different inks, -structured surfaces using inks based on polymeric and/or bio-materials for controlling the response of cells and bacteria towards various topographical, chemical and mechanical cues, -and conducting lines onto existing (mm-size) 3D scaffolds and soft-matter structures. Furthermore, the users have high capability of producing new ink formulations using bio-based raw-materials (nanocellulose- or lignin-based). The system should have the capability to support the development and use novel ink formulations within given rheological and viscosity ranges. A protocol for how to implement and, test print properties and quality using own formulations need to be provided. Usage environment and physical limitations The instrument will be installed in the Aurum building by the Tender in Turku, Henriksgatan 3, FI-20500 Turku, within the laboratory of the Functional Printing Center of Åbo Akademi University (https://www.abo.fi/en/abo-akademi-functional-printing-center/), which is part of the Finnish Infrastructure for Printed Intelligence Research (https://www.oulu.fi/en/university/faculties-and-units/faculty-information-technology-and-electrical-engineering/optoelectronics-and-measurement-techniques/printed-intelligence-infrastructure). For transport within the building the physical size of the instrument is limited to less than 95 x 210 x 229 cm (W x D x H) and a total weight below 1100 kg and less than 400 kg/m2. However, in operation the instrument must be placed close to a wall and the spatial footprint should not exceed 2x2 m2 of floor space, wherefore easy mobility for service access is required. The power requirement must conform to 230 VAC, 50 Hz or three-phase 400 V/16 A. The laboratory will be equipped with a compressed air supply, maximum 6 bar pressure. The ambient temperature varies from 20°C to 25°C. Excluding maintenance breaks, the printing system should be ready for operation continuously, throughout the year.
