The University of Turku intends to purchase a mass spectrometer for top-down protein analysis. The instrument will be acquired for the Proteomics Core at the Turku Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University. The purchase consists of a mass spectrometer as specified in this Invitation for tender. The offer must include a fully operational system that meets all the requirements listed in this invitation to tender and its appendices. The offer must contain a calculated total price for all the items specified in the requirements.

A mass spectrometry system including an ultra-high-pressure split-less nano-HPLC and a nano-electrospray source is being considered for purchase. The instrument will be used for analysing protein expression and modification by a top-down approach. Tenders are invited for a complete solution to the above. A very high resolution ESI MS/MS capable mass spectrometer supplied with an ultra-high-pressure split-free nano-chromatography systems (with autosampler and sample cooling) for the analysis of protein by top-down MS. The system must be capable of carrying out collision-induced dissociation as well as electron transfer dissociation at very high speed whilst collecting intact ion (parent) spectra. The system would ideally also be capable of MS/MS data accumulation of unselected peptide masses within defined mass ranges (i.e. MS/MS over a range such as 500-520, 520-540m/z etc. The system should include software for automated MS and MS/MS data extraction and protein sequence database searching by peptide fragmentation data (MS/MS) and for the sequence analysis of middle and top-down MS/MS spectra collected in chromatographic mode. The system will be used primarily for methods development for proteome-based studies of protein expression and modification in a variety of biological systems. Software for HPLC MS run comparisons is also required. The device should also fulfill all minimum requirements spcified in the appendix 1.
