Twin screw extruder for food R&D purposes

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd

The object of the tender process is a twin-screw extruder with a cooling die for food R&D purposes with screw diameter between 16 – 20 mm (later also “Equipment” or “Extruder”). The extruder will be an addition to the food pilot processing facility at Tekniikantie 21, Espoo, Finland. VTT Technical Research Centre Ltd (later “VTT”) creates innovative technologies for appealing, healthy and safe plant-based ingredients and foods. VTT will use the extruder in the development of meat analogs by high-moisture extrusion and expanded (puffed) products by dry extrusion, as well as in other, novel processes. Work is aimed both for scientific and for industry-driven purposes. Thus, an important feature of the overall system is therefore flexibility regarding process adjustability, modern data collection and possibilities to later upgrade the extruder with new features. The technical specification of the object of the tender is described in more detail in Annex 1 of this invitation to tender. The equipment must comply with all technical properties and functionalities, performance specifications and acceptance criteria as set out in Annex 1. A tender which does not meet one or more of the requirements specified in the Annex 1, may be rejected for failing to comply with the call for tenders. The comparison criterion for the tenders is economic advantageous (see section "Grounds for decision"). The weighting is 20% for quality and 80% for price. In quality comparison the performance of the equipment is max 20 points (see Annex 2). A reference price has to be given for the equipment that meets all the requirements set in the invitation to tender, especially its Annex 1. The minimum quality requirements are taken into account when defining the minimum requirements for the subject of the contract. NON-MANDATORY OPTIONS The tenderer may offer the following optional items 1 and /or 2 (See also Annex 1 requirements): Option 1: Sensors for on-line measurement (other than temperature and pressure), and connection possibilities (ports) for sensors taken in use after this procurement. Option 2: Port for side-feeding option The optional items are not included in tender comparison. Tenderer may also offer an optional 12-month extra warranty period (added to the mandatory 12 months warranty period) to equipment. VTT does not commit to purchase the extra warranty. The price(s) of the option(s) are not taken into account when comparing tenders.
