University of Helsinki, on behalf and representing the FLEX-EPOS national consortium of universities and research institutes will carry out a purchase of seismic instruments in 2020-2024. The FLEX-EPOS consortium is chaired by the University of Helsinki (UH), Department of Geosciences and Geography and the other consortium members are as follows: University of Oulu, Faculty of Technology, Oulu Mining School (OMS), Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), University of Turku (UTU), Aalto University (AU), Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI) of the National Land Survey and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. The consortium will build a national pool of geophysical instruments and multidisciplinary geophysical superstations in seismology, geomagnetism and geodesy.
The present tender is about broadband instrumentation for seismic observations.

observations. The tender is for 30 instruments, with an option to purchase 0-30 more, i.e., altogether up to 60 instruments.
Each broadband instrument for seismic observations should consist of a digitiser and a separate three-component sensor pair and must come with required cabling for full operation, including external GNSS antenna and open-ended cable for external DC power. System must support surface installations.

System must be operable with a single power cable. Specifically, the sensor must be powered without an additional power cable.
System must provide a SEED-link server, usable through ethernet for data access. System must be configurable through an ethernet connection in situ using an off-the-shelf laptop without access to internet and without any special software. The computer can be expected to have standard software, such as an SSH-client and an Internet browser.

Data stored in internal memory must be accessible in miniSEED format. Digitiser must also support hot-swappable external memory storage card of at least 64 GB, i.e. data can be collected by changing the memory storage card in the field on the fly without interruption to data collection.

System must support automatic calibration and centering of the sensor.
The offered package should include all necessary hardware and software for full operation. The seller must take full responsibility for the functioning system of the delivered equipment.

The tenderers are at least asked to offer, as an Option 1, up to 30 additional broadband instruments (price/instrument), the same kind as they have offered for the package of 30 broadband instruments to fulfill the minimum technical requirements and quality evaluation criteria.

O2: Transport case(s) for the instrument(s) offered to fulfill the minimum requirements and quality evaluation criteria (price/case).
O3: Additional external batteries compatible with the instrument(s) offered to fulfill.
The minimum requirements and quality evaluation criteria (30-60; price/battery).
O4: Storage solutions for field operation of external batteries (O3).
O5: Another (for max. 10 persons) a minimum of 5-day training in the field in Finland
(location to be specified later). The seller will cover their own staff, travel, etc. costs.
