Yle has a large archive of old films that need to be digitised with original production quality. Yle will do the digitisation in-house.
Yle’s objective is to be able to digitise the whole film archive by 2035 with original production quality. All films to be digitised will be cleaned with the archive film cleaner. Therefore, the film cleaner should support the following objectives.
— Yle’s film collection will be digitised with best possible quality, i.e. Yle wants to re-produce digital one-to-one copies of original content of the original carriers;
— minimum of 500 hours of material will be cleaned per year;
— the films will not be damaged during the process.
The tenderers are required to offer the following components and services.
1) Film cleaner: the tenderer must offer a film cleaner that suits Yle’s needs and matches at minimum the mandatory requirements. The solution must include all needed hardware,
software, firmware, licences/user rights and similar. These must be included in the prices given in the pricing sheet.
2) Implementation: the service provider is responsible for installing and configuring the film cleaner. The service provider has an overall responsibility over this including but not limited to the services presented in Figure 1. The service provider works under the supervision of Yle and is responsible for giving training to Yle personnel.
3) Support, maintenance and development: the service provider will be responsible for support, maintenance and development services.
However, Yle makes no commitment to order all or any of the offered products/solutions and/or services described in this invitation to tender or its Appendices.
