The procurement includes the broadcast memory card video cameras to Yle.
The tender contains five different categories. Yle selects three winner tenderers for categories 1, 2 and 3. For categories 4 and 5 refer to section 8.4 of this document. Yle wishes to receive tenders in all categories, but partial tenders are also accepted. The only exception is that if the tenderer wants to offer products to any of the categories 1, 2 or 3, he has to offer products to all categories 1, 2 and 3.
Cameras in category 1, 2 and 3 are acquired mainly from the best tenderer, unless special circumstances, like availability, compatibility or other special conditions are met which requires acquirements from the second tenderer. If availability, compatibility or other special conditions are not met from the best and second tenderer, systems are acquired from the third tenderer.
Cameras in categories 4 and 5 are acquired based on the specific needs of the production they are used for. The selection is made based on artistic, operational, financial and technical matters case by case, and most probably Yle is going to acquire many different types of cameras from many different tenderers in small quantities at a time.
The category 1, 2 and 3 equipment are typically used in news and documentary productions by professional cameramen.
The category 4 equipment is typically used by journalists and in situations where category 1, 2 and 3 cameras are too big or otherwise unsuitable.
The category 5 equipment is used in drama and high quality documentary productions.
