Finland is a healthcare pioneer where its contributions to global healthcare far exceed the mere size of the country. With numerous industry ‘firsts,’ healthcare is a key industry for Finland where significant investments are being made in infrastructure, R&D, foresight and innovation initiatives, and support for companies and university spin offs; all to further advance Finland's position as the Digital Health Capitol. Finland has a brain trust and momentum that now requires external partners to fully exploit its human capital and innovation reservoir. As part of the implementation of the growth strategy in the health sector that was made public a year ago, the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy launched the growth program called Team Finland Health, which focuses on attracting investments and on special questions concerning the internationalization of the field. Finpro's Team Finland Health growth program carries out the building of an image for Finland in the health sector and creates a foundation and functional models for cooperation. The aim is to strengthen the image of Finland as an internationally attractive environment for research both into the field of health and into innovation activities, and to attract new investments and business while helping Finnish health sector companies to go international with partners, funding, or co-development opportunities. There are hundreds of companies active throughout the healthcare and life science ecosystem, and more than 300 startups. Finland is one of the best places to build both a competitive and strategic advantage, locate overseas operations, conduct research, and innovate in science and technology. It is a thriving hot spot and test bed with a solid track record in new ideas and products, as well as with the US FDA regarding clinical trials and data. Five university hospital systems are driving innovations in care delivery, population health, and standards of care. Energy prices and taxes are one of the lowest in Europe and fast data links help create a 24/7 innovation hub. Finpro is now inviting tenders for a project to further advance the healthcare capabilities of Finland, especially at the startup and technology transfer levels. Finpro is seeking a healthcare mentoring, funding, and/or acceleration partner that has already established relations to relevant US stakeholders, and is willing to commit to and invest in Finland to help sharpen the focus, accelerate the growth, and sustain the economic lifespan of Finnish health and med-tech companies. See the detailed scope of services to be procured in the invitation to tender attached to this notice, published in www.hilma.fi.
