Yle has a staff of more than 3 000 people, on top of which over 6 000 freelance reporters and artists yearly are paid wages and fees by Yle, most of whom are registered as staff.
The HR system is a master system for managing the information of both own staff and freelancers. The system handles basic information as well as employment and contract data, and all data relating to competences, skills and development. The maintenance of the information is decentralised, with staff maintaining their own personal reference data, and the supervisors maintaining information about employment contracts, compensation etc.
Information related to performance, targets, competences and development goals is maintained together by the employee and their supervisor. The HR system interfaces with a resource planning and scheduling system, Finance system and a payroll system.
