Solid state NMR spectrometer
The solid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (later to be abbreviated as NMR spectrometer) is used for structure elucidation of solid materials and compounds at molecular level. The technique exploits the magnetic properties of different nuclei being a versatile tool for studying both the chemical and physical structure of materials.
VTT has already two solid state NMR systems (270 and 400 MHz CMX Infinity) at the moment and the new system will be installed at Espoo (Biologinkuja 7) as part of the solid state NMR laboratory, and on the longer term also to replace the older equipment. Due to the wide repertoire of the studied materials at VTT, the new system should fulfil requirements to carry out solid state NMR research at high level including, e.g. up-to-date pulse sequence library and high MAS rate capability. The materials to be studied include natural polymers, as well as various organic and inorganic materials. Magnet with field strength (500/600 MHz) sufficient for both the quadrupolar nuclei and more standard measurements of polymeric materials is thus required.
The objective is to find a professional supplier that can guarantee a high standard of quality. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland will choose one supplier from among the tenderers.
VTT has a limited budget for this equipment and the tender price must not exceed 700 kEUR for this investment.
The objective is for the equipment to be supplied by the end of 2013.
