Electricity hourly meter data internal reporting
Automatic Meters produce hourly consumption values from delivery sites. As this is legislative requirement, all delivery sites should produce hourly meter data by beginning of 2014. Fortum plans to start loading hourly meter values to a Data Warehouse (DW) which is an existing solution. Scope of the project is to expand the existing DW to handle large volume hourly meter data for internal reporting purposes and to create a new BI application (set of reports and calculations).
New data to be integrated to DW is mainly the described hourly meter data as time series. Data volumes will be very high, one record per hour from up to one million delivery sites. Additionally there are few other time-series data to be integrated. Other data that is used in reporting, is mainly already in the DW.
Hourly meter data reporting will be used by both Fortum Distribution (FD) and Fortum Energy Sales and Marketing (ESM). System must support legislative unbundling principles and requirements in data visibility for different user groups. Main functionality of the reporting is calculating energy consumptions, revenues, other measures and comparisons based on hourly meter data.
DW is seen as an important reporting platform for the future, so a long term partnership is being looked for. Also, maintenance is required after the project has been completed.
