The Aalto University Foundation, operating as Aalto University invites tenders for fundraising consulting service for Aalto University's fundraising activity in accordance with this invitation to tender and its terms and annexes. Aalto University seeks support with the continuous development of its fundraising strategy, goals and practices, especially in establishing a long-term pool of funds that offer attractive opportunities for donors and support Aalto's strategic goals, and in developing international fundraising.
The Contract shall enter into force on the day of its signature by the authorized representatives of the Parties and shall stay valid until further notice, with a one (1)-month mutual termination period.

University (www.aalto.fi) is a new university with over a century of experience. Created from a high-profile merger of three leading universities in Finland—the Helsinki University of Technology, the Helsinki School of Economics, and the University of Art and Design Helsinki—Aalto University opens up new possibilities for strong multidisciplinary education and research. The university has 20 000 students and a staff of 4500 including 400 professors. The annual budget of the university is 400 000 000 EUR.

Aalto has four distinctive competence areas: materials and the sustainable use of natural resources, ICT and digitalization, arts and design, and global business dynamics. These are linked through three multidisciplinary themes: health and well-being, advanced energy solutions, human-centered living environments. Upon the founding of Aalto in 2010, donations of a grand total of over 200 000 000 EUR were raised from Finnish companies, organizations and individuals, and incorporated into Aalto's initial endowment. At present, Aalto is engaged in a major governmental matching funding campaign (which applies to all Finnish universities). Aalto's goal is to raise 20 million euros by June 2017, with governmental matching funding expected to be 1-2 euros per every euro raised. Alongside the campaign, planning for long-term fundraising is under way. Aalto's fundraising team (5 employees) works in close cooperation with the University's corporate relations team, coordinating efforts to build long-term relationships with companies, and at the same time fundraising efforts have expanded towards alumni and foundations.

The main Otaniemi campus of Aalto is a growing hub of startup activities and innovation incubation. The concept of the Design Factory, originally developed at Aalto, has been adapted to nine different locations around the world. Aalto's profile as an internationally recognized entrepreneurial university is a central element in Aalto's fundraising.

During the past seven years, fundraising efforts have largely concentrated in Finland, and are expanding into the other Nordic countries. The intention now is to broaden out these efforts to become global with the help of corporate contacts, alumni abroad, and the appeal of Aalto's combination of competence areas and entrepreneurial profile. This involves an analysis of giving opportunities (pool of funds available to the potential donor) and how they are marketed in the long-term. For these aims, Aalto now seeks support from an international consultant.
