Technical Assistance for TEVT (Soft Skills) Development in School Sector Reform Plan in Nepal
Government of Finland as part of its contribution to the School Sector Reform Programme (SSRP; 2010-2015) has decided to provide technical assistance (TA) for the development and piloting of the Technical Education and Vocational Training, TEVT (soft skills), in school education in;
i) grade 6-8 with a separate subject and also integrating the practical and vocationally oriented soft skills curricula in all subjects, and
ii) grade 9-10/12 with a separate vocational stream and also integrating the TEVT (soft skills) in all subjects to enhance application among students/schools.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently decided to introduce vocational stream of secondary education and also to incorporate the TEVT (Soft Skills) as orientation into the general education curriculum. They will be taught throughout the system (basic and secondary education). 1 600 000 EUR has been allocated for the TA and related costs during the remaining SSRP period for development and piloting the TEVT.
