The Information Society and ICT Sector Development Project (TANZICT)
The overall objective of the Project is a strengthened Tanzanian information society with enhanced capacities to contribute to the achievement of the Government’s socio-economic development goals. The purpose of the Project is a reviewed and improved Tanzanian ICT policy framework and strengthened arrangements for its implementation.
The Project comprises of 3 interconnected components:
Component I: Support to revision of the national ICT policy and start of the implementation;
Component II: Strengthening the Institutional capacity of MCST (the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology);
Component III: Tanzanian Innovation Program (TIP). This component will focus on stimulating innovations in the ICT sector A) creating seamless ICT innovation chain from ideas to pilots, B) raising awareness of innovations as drivers of economic and social development, C) transferring knowledge and good international practices on promotion of innovation to Tanzania, and all in all, D) strengthening the basic elements and processes of the Tanzanian national innovation system.
The scope of the procurement is the international TA services for supporting the Project, particularly in the component III.
